The 1989 release of Loc'd After Dark put rapper Tone Loc in the spotlight. The breakthrough album spawned the hit singles "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina" which still remain Loc's best-known tunes. The 1980s rap pioneer made such a splash that he ended up being just the second rap act ever to reach #1 on Billboard's album charts. Loc landed a few notable acting roles in the mid-90ā€™s and may best be remembered for his work in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
