While vivid imageries and metaphor analogies are Jill Scott’s stock in trade, there’s no pretense, no hiding. Her debut album, the monumental and ground breaking Who Is Jill Scott? Words & Sounds Vol. 1, came out in 2000. It achieved double-platinum status and earned her NAACP Image Awards, trophies from both Billboard and Soul Train, as well as Black Girls Rock. Experience: Jill Scott 826+ came out the next year. She would get a Grammy nomination in 2003 for Best Female Vocal Performance for "A Long Walk." Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds, Vol. 2 (2004) and The Real Thing: Words and Sounds, Vol. 3 (2007), both debuted in the Top Five of the Billboard 200. The 2011 release of The Light of the Sun was led by "So in Love," a collaboration with Anthony Hamilton. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Scott’s fifth proper studio album was Woman, her second album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200.
