International Business Events
Each year the Memphis in May International Festival hosts business events throughout the city focusing on the economic impact and global logistics of each honored country.
May 2010 will focus on the modern African nation of Tunisia - keep a lookout for a calendar of events!
Below are the annual economic events held during the International Salute in May:
Economic Club Dinner
Established to promote the study and discussion of
economic, political and social issues, the Economic Club supports
Memphis in May International Festival’s salute each year by welcoming a distinguished speaker from the honored country.
Doing Business in the Honored Country Seminar
Doing
Business in the Honored Country Seminar was designed to give regional companies the tools to
work with U.S. Customs and Customs house brokers to successfully import and
export goods and conduct business in the current year's honored country. Topics included
payment processes and sourcing resources for import and export goods. Co-sponsored by The International Trade Center and the
Greater Memphis Chamber.
International Council Luncheon
Approximately
80 key local international trade executives, as well as local government
leaders of both the City of Memphis and Shelby County attend this
annual meeting. Special guests lecturers with ties to the honored countries discuss current developments and economic opportunities in their respective countries.
Memphis Multi-Modal Conference Global Logistics and the Global Economy
The fourth annual conference
presented by the Memphis World Trade Club will bring together distribution and
logistics specialists from around the globe to exchange new ideas and best
practices in the field of global logistics; air, rail, port and trucking. The
keynote speaker will be from the Memphis in May honored country, to speak about the unique
challenges and solutions in the area of global logistics from a Tunisian
perspective.
