Dates for 2021 Festival in Tom Lee Park Confirmed
Great American River Run Early Registration Now Open
Memphis in May International Festival has opened early registration for the 2020 Great American River Run presented by AutoZone.
Now in its fifth year, organizers are offering deep discounts on early registrations for a limited time—now through October 31, the half marathon is only $40, the 5K is just $20, and the ALL NEW 10K distance added this year is only $25. In honor of the race being held on Memorial Day weekend, an additional discount is offered to members of the military. Registration fees are scheduled to increase as the race date approaches, so runners are strongly encouraged to register now for the greatest savings.
“The Great American River Run is one of the fastest-growing races in Memphis, so this is a great time to add another popular race distance, the 10K, to our challenging downtown course,” says James L. Holt, president and CEO of Memphis in May. “We have a race for every runner at every skill level, and of course, the best post-race party with Memphis food, local beer, and great live music in Tom Lee Park.”
Runners from thirty-three states and three countries participated in last year’s race, which featured an exclusive incentive to the Great American River Run’s half marathon: the “King and Queen of the Hill,” which offers an additional $500 prize to the fastest male and female runners to crest the A.W. Willis bridge at mile 11.
The Great American River Run will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2020, and is designed for all levels of runner, from elite athletes to the beginning runner or family participant. Courses wind through downtown Memphis and along the riverfront, starting and ending on Riverside Drive in Tom Lee Park.
