Tom Lee Park Update
Memphis in May and Memphis River Parks Partnership have entered into mediation over issues related to the revision of Tom Lee Park We appreciate Mayor Strickland’s leadership in making this decision, and we welcome the opportunity to join MRPP in mediation. We are hopeful this effort will assist both parties in quickly finding a resolution that will meet everyone’s needs for the park and will allow us to remain financially viable. Should construction begin in June as originally scheduled by MRPP, a location to host the 2020 Festival events is still undetermined.
2019 Fine Arts Poster Unveiled
We proudly unveiled the 2019 Fine Arts Poster honoring Memphis on Tuesday, March 19 at the Pink Palace Mansion. The selected artwork is an oil painting on canvas created by local artist Evelina Dillon. We owe a huge thanks to Farris Bobango for sponsoring the evening.
Rather than selecting a local artist and commissioning a work, we held an open call for any Memphis artist to submit their work for consideration. The public cast over 2,800 votes as part of the juried panel to select the work.
Ms. Dillon's work holds great detail and features a plethora of the historic and current landmarks that make Memphis a special place. Posters can be purchased at our online store beginning May 1, but a limited quantity of signed ($65) and unsigned ($35) are available now at 1910 Frame Works.
