MIM OFFICIALS MEET WITH STUDIO GANG REGARDING TOM LEE PARK DESIGN
Studio Gang, the Chicago team creating a plan to redesign the Riverfront, recently met with Memphis in May executives and Board Chair Barry Yoakum to discuss the Tom Lee Park redesign. Memphis in May has been working with Studio Gang and Memphis River Parks Partnership to ensure the redesigned park will allow for the Beale Street Music Festival patron capacity and World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest team spaces – not to mention their accompanying economic impact – and preserve the future viability of the festival and its events in Tom Lee Park. We look forward to reviewing the final park redesign plan scheduled for release in December.
Memphis in May is also working with Studio Gang on coordinating a phased construction schedule and reduced park occupancy timeframe that would allow the Memphis in May Festival events to continue uninterrupted in 2020 from what has been our riverfront home in Tom Lee Park the past forty-three years.

STAFF PROFILE: DANIEL LEWANDOWSKI
November marks the two-year anniversary for Daniel Lewandowski, Memphis in May's Event Operations Manager. Daniel oversees the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and Great American River Run, among a host of other responsibilities.
His first memory of the festival came in 2015. While on a first date with his now-wife, the server gave them his tickets for the Beale Street Music Festival, allowing for a memorable first date with Lenny Kravitz performing that night.
Daniel has favorite parts of every event, such as seeing the triumph of a runner crossing the Great American River Run finish line or helping create the Celebrate Memphis space where families come together. He's excited to see how the city will rally together in 2019 with the spotlight on Memphis.
