Half Marathon Inaugural 10K 5k Run Info



Registration for the Great American River Run Half Marathon, 10K & 5K is now OPEN!

The race will be held Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 29, 2021 and the course will take participants along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River and through downtown Memphis. All three distances are designed for all levels – from elite athletes to the beginning runner. 

  • Every runner who finishes their race will receive a medal. 
  • Each registrant will be given a soft-style race shirt corresponding to the race they run!
  • Start time for the three races will be announced soon and will be adjusted to meet any COVID19 requirements in place at the time of the run.
  • Race routes for each distance are shown below.
  • Cash prizes are up for grabs at the 2021 race. Complete information will be listed soon.

Can someone else pick up my packet at the Expo?
Details regarding our COVID-safe packet pickup and Expo will be announced soon. Make sure they come with a copy of your ID and proof of your registration.

What's an address for the start/finish line?
All races start and finish at the same place on Beale Street.

If I'm coming from out of town, where should I stay?
Be sure to check out our travel page for a list of nearby hotels we recommend while you visit Memphis.

What are the details you can provide about the military discount?
With the race taking place on Memorial Day weekend, we want to honor armed forces personnel. The military discount should only be selected for those who are active or who have served in the armed forces

Are strollers allowed for either race?
Strollers are not permitted for either race this year. 

Is there anything to do following the race?
Stick around Beale Street and downtown Memphis once your finish to enjoy the sights and sounds of our river city!

What time does each race begin? 
We expect changes to accommodate any COVID19 restrictions in place on the day of the race, including earlier start times and staggered starts. The half marathon will start first and the 10K + 5K will follow (this is subject to change and exact start times will be announced soon).

Is there an age limit for any of the race distances?
We strongly caution every runner to consider the health and safety risks before deciding to run. With that being said, we do not have an age limit for the 5K, but we require runners to be 10 years of age or older to participate in the 10K and 13 years old to participate in the half.  Parents must sign the liability waiver for any minor children under the age of 18 who participate in the Great American River Run. 

What is the time limit for the half marathon?
The time limit to complete the half marathon is four hours.
